About Uncle Blayde

I’m Blayde.

But around here, you can call me Uncle Blayde.

I’ve been making money on the internet for a long time, and along the way I’ve made plenty of mistakes, chased plenty of bullshit, and learned a few things that would have saved my younger self years of wasted effort.

I’ve worked jobs I couldn’t wait to leave. I’ve built businesses, screwed things up, started over, moved to Mexico, and spent a lot of time figuring out what freedom actually means to me.

That’s why I created Excel & Compel.

This is essentially the website I wish existed when I was younger.

Not another self-improvement site telling you to wake up at 5 AM, take an ice bath, meditate for 45 minutes, and spend the rest of your life optimizing yourself into an anxiety disorder.

And definitely not another business guru promising that his $997 course contains the ancient secret to becoming a millionaire.

There are enough of those guys already.

Excel & Compel is about something much simpler:

Building yourself into a man capable of creating the life he actually wants.

WHAT DOES “EXCEL & COMPEL” MEAN?

Excel means becoming exceptionally good at what matters—your business, your body, your money, and your ability to think for yourself.

Compel means turning intention into action.

You don’t just sit around thinking about the life you want.

You make shit happen.

And the ultimate objective behind all of it is freedom.

FREEDOM IS THE POINT

I don’t want money just so I can say I’m rich. I want money because money buys options.

I want a successful business because I don’t want someone else controlling my time. I want to be in shape because life is better when you look good, feel good, and are physically capable. And I want control over my life because I believe that’s one of the greatest forms of wealth a person can have.

My definition of success is pretty straightforward:

Do what I want.
When I want.
Where I want.
With whoever I want.
For as long as I want.

And look good while doing it.

That’s the game I’m playing.

I haven’t figured everything out. I’ve procrastinated, followed bad advice, overcomplicated simple problems, and spent plenty of time chasing things that didn’t matter.

But I’ve also built businesses, learned how to make money online, walked away from jobs I didn’t want, moved to another country, and gotten a taste of what happens when you stop waiting for permission and start making your own moves.

E&C is where I tell you what I’m learning along the way.

THE BLOG FOR BADASSES

I write the way I talk.

Sometimes that means profanity. Sometimes it means making fun of ideas I think are ridiculous. And sometimes I’ll tell you something completely different from what the gurus, influencers, fitness experts, or motivational speakers are telling you.

You don’t have to agree with me.

In fact, I’d rather you didn’t agree with everything I write.

Think for yourself. Take whatever is useful, test it in your own life, and throw away whatever isn’t.

I write about business, money, freedom, fitness, self-development, lifestyle design, and unconventional ways of looking at life. Sometimes I’ll tell you what worked. Sometimes I’ll tell you what failed spectacularly. And sometimes I’ll write an entire article because something everybody accepts as common knowledge seems completely stupid to me.

There’s really only one requirement:

It has to be useful.

WHY “UNCLE BLAYDE”?

First of all, I’m actually an uncle.

And “Uncle” is about the only label I’m willing to accept.

I’m not a guru, mentor, thought leader, life coach, influencer, or any of the other ridiculous titles people on the internet give themselves.

Uncle Blayde works just fine.

Think of me as the slightly unconventional uncle who pulls you aside at the family barbecue and tells you something nobody else is willing to say.

Maybe I’ve already made the mistake you’re about to make. Maybe I can save you six months. Or maybe I’m completely wrong and you’ll discover a better way.

Either outcome is fine with me.

My job isn’t to tell you how to live. My job is to make you think.

And occasionally give you the kick in the ass you needed.

So read my stuff. Steal my ideas. Experiment with them. Keep what works and throw away what doesn’t.

But don’t build my life.

Build yours.

That’s what Excel & Compel is ultimately about.

Excel at what matters.
Compel yourself to act.
Build your freedom.

I’ll see you around.

Your man,

Uncle Blayde
